René Lalique’s villa celebrates its centenary
In 1920 glass artist and pioneer of Art Nouveau René Lalique settled in the little Alsatian village of Wingen-sur-Moder, where he built his family home. One year later, he built his glassworks in this same village. One hundred years later, the villa has become the artistic and gastronomic showcase of Lalique. The former residence houses a five-star hotel and a restaurant with two Michelin stars that is presided over by chefs Jean-Georges Klein and Paul Stradner. On the occasion of its centenary, Villa René Lalique is celebrating by organising a series of events throughout the year.
Third and last design of Essence of Speed Lalique collection for McLaren
Launched in 2018, Essence of Speed depicts three stylized creatures in clear crystal, each interpreted in two sizes. Symbols of speed, these collector’s pieces in limited editions have been released over a three-year period. After the Cheetah and the Falcon, the third design is a stunning Sailfish.

Lalique is to unveil two new lighting pieces – Perles designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon and Plumes – which will be set against an installation of its classic lighting designs including the Champs-Elysées chandelier and the Poséidon lamp as well as collaborations with Lady Tina Green & Pietro Mingarelli, Studio Putman, Windfall and Delisle at the Euroluce biennale during Salone del Mobile Milano.
The second generation Niepoort in Lalique 1863 decanter sets a new World Record for the most expensive Port wine sold at auction at HK$ 1,054,000 (approx. EUR 119,000 / US$ 134,000) with all net proceeds going to the charity The Nature Conservancy.
March 22nd 2019, Hong Kong: A new world record for the most expensive Port wine sold at auction was set today with the sale of the second (of five) generation Niepoort in Lalique 1863 decanter, which sold for HK$ 1,054,000 (approx. EUR 119,000 / US$ 134,000) with all net proceeds of the sale going to the charity, The Nature Conservancy (TNC).
